The Watertown community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Patricia Curtis, the 65-year-old Wellesley Island resident who tragically died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Coffeen Street on the evening of July 16, 2026. Authorities allege that the driver, Skye Elise Everson, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. Patricia’s passing has left family, friends, and neighbors grieving the loss of a woman whose life mattered deeply to those who knew her.
According to the Watertown Police Department, the crash occurred around 8:12 p.m. at the intersection of Coffeen Street and Bellew Avenue. Patricia was crossing the street within a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek driven by 21-year-old Skye Everson. Emergency responders rushed Patricia to SUNY Upstate Hospital by helicopter, where she later succumbed to the severe injuries she sustained.
Following the investigation, Everson was charged with second-degree vehicular assault, driving while intoxicated, failure to stop at a red light, and failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
