Kristen Delaney, 46, of Mobile, tragically lost her life, while Drew Delaney, 49, Brooks Delaney, 51, Cameron Neil, 32, Talyn Faulkner, 25, John Lyle, 28, and Rayford Reeves, 34, were injured in a heartbreaking boating collision Saturday night on the Intracoastal Waterway near Wolf Bay in Orange Beach. The devastating accident has left the Alabama Gulf Coast community in mourning, with family members and friends remembering Kristen’s life while praying for the healing of those who survived.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the collision occurred at approximately 8:10 p.m. on July 18 when a 27-foot 2024 Albury Brothers vessel and a 23-foot 2013 Key West vessel crashed in the Intracoastal Waterway. Kristen was riding aboard the Albury Brothers vessel when she sustained life-threatening injuries. She was transported to South Baldwin Hospital, where she later passed away despite the efforts of emergency medical personnel.
Officials said Drew Delaney was operating the Albury Brothers vessel and was not physically injured. Fellow passenger Brooks Delaney was hurt and taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola for treatment. Cameron Neil, who was operating the Key West vessel, also suffered injuries, while passengers Talyn Faulkner, John Lyle, and Rayford Reeves were transported for medical care. Authorities reported that eight people were aboard each boat when the collision occurred, with several escaping without injury.
As investigators continue working to determine what caused the crash, Kristen Delaney is being remembered as a beloved woman whose kindness, warmth, and love touched countless lives. Her passing has created an immeasurable loss for her family, friends, and everyone who knew her.
The ALEA Marine Patrol Division continues to investigate the incident, and officials have not yet announced the cause of the collision or whether any charges will be filed.
