Kansas City, Kansas Police Identify Homicide Victim; Woman Charged With Second-Degree Murder

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department has released the identity of the victim and announced a criminal charge following a homicide investigation that began Friday in the 300 block of South 8th Street.

Authorities identified the victim as Mark Doran Kline, born March 19, 1981, a resident of Kansas City, Missouri.

Police said the investigation remains active as detectives with the KCKPD Major Case Unit continue working to determine the circumstances surrounding Kline’s death.

According to the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department, Kline was the person killed in the incident reported Friday in the area of South 8th Street.

Police announced that B’anca Monet Guess, born February 2, 1992, who is listed as a resident of the home where the incident occurred, has been charged in Wyandotte County with second-degree murder.

Guess is currently being held in the Wyandotte County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

The charge indicates that prosecutors believe there is sufficient evidence to accuse Guess of involvement in Kline’s death. However, criminal charges are allegations, and Guess is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
