The community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Robert “Bob” E. Rex Jr., 68, of Shippenville, who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle crash in Monroe Township on the evening of July 18. Bob’s sudden passing has left his family, friends, and loved ones with profound sorrow as they remember a man whose kindness, character, and presence touched so many lives.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. on the Exit 62 westbound on-ramp where it merges with Interstate 80 West. Bob was riding his 2021 Harley-Davidson Tri Glide when he encountered rocks and dirt that had washed across the roadway following a heavy thunderstorm. Investigators said he lost control of the motorcycle after traveling over the debris, causing the bike to overturn and slide along the roadway.
Troopers reported that Bob was thrown from the motorcycle as it overturned. He suffered fatal head and chest injuries after striking the pavement. Authorities also noted that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Clarion Hospital EMS responded to the scene, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced deceased.
Although his life ended in a tragic accident, Bob will be remembered for far more than the circumstances of that day. Those who knew him will cherish his generosity, the friendships he built, and the countless memories he created with those closest to him. His legacy lives on through the love he shared and the impact he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
