The communities of Marysville, Kansas, and Beatrice, Nebraska, are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Ashley Shaughnessy, 32, and Oscar Ferguson, 57, whose lives were tragically cut short following a devastating two-vehicle collision in Jefferson County, Nebraska. Their sudden passing has left families, friends, and neighbors grieving an unimaginable loss while remembering two lives that touched many in different ways.

 

The fatal crash occurred shortly before 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, along Highway 8 near the 2nd Street intersection outside Steele City. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Ashley was driving a 2008 Toyota Sienna eastbound, while Oscar was traveling westbound in a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado. Investigators determined that a near head-on collision occurred in the westbound lane. Ashley was pronounced dead at the scene, while Oscar was rushed to Jefferson Community Health and Life, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

 

As investigators continue working to determine what caused the collision, loved ones are left with the overwhelming pain of two lives ending far too soon. With no known witnesses, authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
