The Roseburg community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jarod Michael Whitlock, a 24-year-old whose life was tragically cut short following a motorcycle crash in Douglas County. Jarod was found deceased along Roberts Creek Road after his family reported him missing when he failed to report to work for two days. His sudden passing has left loved ones, friends, and the community grieving a young man whose future held so much promise.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies began searching for Jarod on the evening of July 16 after receiving a missing-person report from his mother. During the investigation, they discovered him near the 8700 block of Roberts Creek Road in the Green District. Investigators believe Jarod had been riding his 2025 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle eastbound after leaving Gateway Road when the motorcycle, reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed, left the roadway and came to rest nearly 50 yards away. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Today, those who knew Jarod remember far more than the tragic circumstances of his passing. They remember his personality, the memories he shared with family and friends, and the moments that brought joy to those around him. His absence leaves an irreplaceable void that words cannot fully express.
