The Dorchester community is united in grief following the tragic death of Yanick Rodrigues, a 17-year-old Madison Park High School student whose promising future was cut short after a drowning incident at Shadowbrook Quarries in Milford, Massachusetts. Authorities say Rodrigues entered the water with friends on Saturday before he was reported missing, prompting an immediate large-scale search involving more than 50 first responders. Firefighters, police officers, and specialized dive teams worked around the clock in a difficult recovery effort before locating his body approximately 50 feet beneath the water’s surface on Sunday afternoon. Originally from Cape Verde, Rodrigues immigrated to the United States in 2016 and built a life in Dorchester, where he became known as a dedicated student, talented soccer player, and ambitious young man with dreams of becoming an automotive technician.
