The Murrieta community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of David Heard, a devoted father, loving husband, and cherished friend whose life was tragically taken in a devastating crash in Temecula. David, 39, was killed on July 24 after a multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of Rancho California Road and Riesling Court, east of Interstate 15.

According to authorities, David was the victim of a crash allegedly caused by Jonathan Ruiz, 38, of Bellflower, who was arrested on suspicion of murder and driving under the influence causing injury. The tragic incident has left David’s family, friends, and community struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of a man described as the heart of his family.

David leaves behind his beloved wife, Elsie, and their two young children. Those who knew him remembered him as a caring and selfless person who always put others before himself. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to be there for the people around him.

“David was the heart of their family, always putting others before himself and showing up for those in need,” a fundraiser created for his family shared.

As loved ones gather to honor David’s memory, they remember not only the tragic way his life ended but also the love, joy, and compassion he brought into the lives of others. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue through the family he loved so dearly and the many people whose lives he touched.

A fundraiser has been created to support David’s wife and children with funeral expenses and other needs as they navigate this painful chapter.

David Heard will forever be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, and a man whose kindness left a lasting impact. May he rest in peace.
