HYDEN, Ky. — Taegan Mosley, a 17-year-old from Hyden, was tragically killed Saturday afternoon in a devastating crash on the Hal Rogers Parkway, leaving family, friends, and the Leslie County community grieving the loss of a young life taken far too soon. The heartbreaking collision became one of two fatal crashes along the roadway that day, creating a scene of sorrow and loss for many across the area.
According to Kentucky State Police, troopers responded around 2:54 p.m. to a two-vehicle crash near the 37-mile marker of the Hal Rogers Parkway. Investigators said Mosley was traveling westbound in a Nissan Juke when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck an eastbound Ford Expedition in a head-on collision.
Mosley was pronounced dead at the scene. His sudden passing has left those who knew him struggling with the pain of losing a teenager with an entire future ahead of him. Loved ones are remembering Taegan for the impact he made during his life and the memories he leaves behind.
The crash also injured occupants of the Ford Expedition. The driver and a juvenile passenger were flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment. Passenger Penny Ison, 64, of Cornettsville, was transported to Mary Breckinridge Hospital, where she later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
As investigators continue working to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision, the Hyden community is mourning Taegan Mosley’s passing and offering support to those affected by the tragedy.
