LIBBY, Mont. — Two people were found dead at a home in Libby in what investigators are calling an apparent murder-suicide, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) said in a release.

Deputies, detectives and Libby Police Department officers went to the 20 block of Conifer Road at about 10:34 a.m. on Thursday, July 9 after a caller reported a suicide.

While responders were on the way, they were told two people inside the home had no pulse and were not breathing. When officers arrived, they found the two dead people were the only ones in the house, LCSO said.

The deceased were identified by the sheriff’s office as Henriette Brumbaugh, 78, and Richard Brumbaugh, 37.

Henriette Brumbaugh died from multiple gunshot wounds and investigators are handling her death as a homicide, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office said Richard Brumbaugh died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Both were set to be taken to the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula for autopsies. The investigation remains ongoing.
