The Roseland community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Dejanae Minee, a 24-year-old woman whose life was tragically taken in a violent shooting that has left family, friends, and loved ones searching for answers. Dejanae was one of two women injured in a late-night shooting near 104th Street and Michigan Avenue in Chicago, an incident that has brought grief and sorrow to those who knew her.
According to Chicago Police, officers responded around 12:49 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting and a vehicle crash. When authorities arrived, they discovered Dejanae inside a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, including injuries to the back of her head and thigh. She was rushed to the University of Chicago Hospital, where despite efforts to save her, she was sadly pronounced deceased.
Another 20-year-old woman was also found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to Roseland Hospital and was reported to be in good condition.
Investigators said the victims were traveling north in a vehicle when an unknown person approached and fired multiple shots before fleeing the scene. Detectives from Area 2 are continuing their investigation as the search for answers remains ongoing.
Beyond the tragedy of her final moments, Dejanae Minee will be remembered for the life she lived, the memories she created, and the people who loved her. Her passing leaves behind heartbreak that words cannot fully express.
