MARQUETTE, Neb. — A child exploitation investigation in Marquette ended in tragedy on Wednesday morning when 47-year-old Chad Lammermann died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound while law enforcement officers were serving a search warrant at his residence.
According to the Nebraska State Patrol, multiple law enforcement agencies arrived at a home in the 200 block of Center Street at approximately 7:00 a.m. to execute a search warrant connected to an investigation involving alleged child sexual abuse material.
Authorities said that after officers made contact at the residence, Lammermann went farther inside the home. Moments later, officers heard gunshots coming from within the house. In response, law enforcement immediately withdrew from the residence and secured the area while the Nebraska State Patrol SWAT Team was called to assist.
Officials stated that repeated attempts to communicate with anyone inside the home were unsuccessful. Once the SWAT Team entered the residence, they discovered Lammermann suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Nebraska State Patrol emphasized that no law enforcement officers discharged their firearms during the incident, no officers were injured, and investigators confirmed that no one else was inside the home at the time.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue processing evidence related to both the search warrant and Lammermann’s death. Officials have not released additional details regarding the underlying investigation and say more information will be provided as it becomes available.
