The Hanover County community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Patyn Smith, 51, of Henrico, whose life was tragically cut short in a fatal two-vehicle collision on the morning of July 30, 2026. According to the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 6:22 a.m. to the 11100 block of Cedar Lane following a serious crash involving a commercial vehicle and a 2026 Honda Odyssey. Preliminary investigators reported that the commercial vehicle traveled off the roadway before re-entering traffic and crossing into the oncoming lane, where it collided with Patyn Smith’s vehicle. Sadly, Patyn was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and passenger of the commercial vehicle were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and authorities have confirmed that charges remain pending as the investigation continues.
