The hearts of two families and their communities are heavy following the tragic loss of Charles Leroy Grandpre, 64, of Salina, Kansas, and Angela Dawn Blackwood, 49, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, who died in a devastating semi tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 29 in Pottawattamie County, Iowa, on the morning of Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Their sudden passing has left loved ones mourning two lives that ended far too soon.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Charles Grandpre was driving a 2024 Kenworth semi northbound near the Honey Creek exit when, for reasons still under investigation, the truck left the roadway, crossed through cable barriers, entered the median, and struck a support column for the Rosewood Road bridge. The impact proved fatal for both Charles and his passenger, Angela Blackwood. Emergency responders arrived shortly after the crash, which occurred at approximately 6:24 a.m., but both victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.
As family members, friends, and colleagues reflect on their lives, Charles and Angela will be remembered not for the tragic circumstances of their passing, but for the kindness, friendships, and lasting memories they shared with those around them.
