Corey Hummel Identified as Victim in Fatal Rochester E-Bike Crash

The Rochester community is mourning the tragic loss of Corey Hummel, who died after a devastating e-bike crash involving an SUV on Sunday afternoon in northwest Rochester, Minnesota.

The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has officially identified Hummel as the victim of the fatal collision. According to the Rochester Police Department, he succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the crash after being transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital – Saint Marys Campus for emergency medical treatment.

The deadly incident occurred at approximately 3:50 p.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of Elton Hills Drive Northwest, a busy roadway on the city’s northwest side.

Authorities have confirmed that Hummel was riding an e-bike when it was involved in a collision with a sport utility vehicle (SUV). At this time, investigators have not released additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the crash or how the collision occurred.

Police reported that the driver of the SUV was not injured.

Following the crash, emergency responders rushed to the scene to provide medical assistance before Hummel was transported to the hospital. Despite the efforts of first responders and medical personnel, he later died from the injuries he sustained.
