TWIN FALLS, Idaho — A deadly shooting at the newly opened In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls has left the community grieving after a gunman opened fire outside the busy restaurant, killing three innocent victims and injuring seven others. The suspect, identified by police as 24-year-old Chad Williams, also died after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound, bringing the total number of deaths connected to the tragedy to four.
The shooting happened Saturday afternoon around 2 p.m. at the In-N-Out Burger location, which had only recently opened as part of the company’s expansion into Idaho. The restaurant was crowded with customers and employees when gunfire erupted, sending people running for safety and creating panic throughout the shopping area.
Authorities said Williams acted alone during the attack. Investigators are continuing to examine evidence, review surveillance footage, and interview witnesses in an effort to determine what led to the shooting. A motive has not yet been released.
Among the victims killed were Christopher “Toph” Claunch, a respected Twin Falls community member known for his compassion and willingness to help others, and Ashley, an In-N-Out employee who was working during the attack.
Seven additional victims were wounded. Officials reported that two victims have been released from the hospital, three remain in stable condition, and two others are still in critical condition. Steven Pixley and Terry Dudley were among those injured, with Dudley reportedly undergoing surgery after being shot while inside a vehicle outside the restaurant.
Authorities praised the actions of an off-duty Idaho State Police trooper and an armed citizen, identified by witnesses as Jordan Salinas, who confronted the shooter during the attack. Police said their actions helped move the gunman away from the crowded area and may have prevented additional casualties.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is assisting local authorities as the investigation continues. Officials are asking anyone with photos, videos, or information from the scene to share it with investigators.
As Twin Falls mourns, tributes continue to honor the victims and recognize the bravery of those who stepped forward during one of the city’s most painful moments.
