Carlos A. Jones, 46, and Surbezz Clark, 53, have been identified as the two victims who lost their lives in a deadly mass shooting at a gas station near 76th Street and Halsted in Chicago on July 2. Their deaths, along with the injuries sustained by two other victims, have prompted an ongoing investigation as police continue searching for the four armed suspects responsible for the attack.
The Chicago Police Department recently released surveillance footage from multiple camera angles showing the suspects approaching the gas station through a nearby alley before entering the parking lot. According to investigators, the suspects, all dressed in black hooded sweatshirts, suddenly pulled out firearms and opened fire on a group of people. Authorities said one suspect appeared to be carrying a handgun equipped with a conversion device, commonly known as a “switch,” while another was armed with an AK-style rifle.
During the shooting, a Chicago Police Department transport wagon turned onto Halsted Street and officers witnessed the gunfire. Instead of pursuing the fleeing suspects, the officers immediately requested emergency assistance and provided lifesaving aid to the victims while additional police units and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene.
Despite the release of the surveillance video, no suspects have been taken into custody.
