The Richmond, Kentucky, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Addy Maggard, an 8-year-old girl from Lesage, West Virginia, who tragically lost her life following a devastating vehicle collision on Interstate 75. Addy’s passing has left her family, friends, and loved ones facing unimaginable grief as they remember a young life that ended far too soon.
The fatal crash occurred Tuesday afternoon near mile marker 77 on I-75, where two vehicles collided and caused a major traffic disruption. The Berea Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 2:00 p.m. and immediately began providing assistance to those involved while requesting support from the Richmond Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit.
Following the collision, Addy was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Berea, where medical personnel worked to provide care. Sadly, she was later pronounced deceased by Deputy Coroner Carlos Coyle of the Madison County Coroner’s Office. Two other individuals involved in the crash were also taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment, though their conditions have not been publicly released.
As investigators continue working to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash, authorities are asking the public to allow Addy’s family and loved ones privacy as they navigate this painful loss.
