COLUMBUS, Ohio — A tragic pedestrian crash claimed the life of 5-year-old Gem Scott late Friday night after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing East Broad Street near Outerbelt Street, according to investigators.

 

Authorities said Gem was crossing the roadway with members of her family when she was hit by a vehicle traveling eastbound. Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene and transported the young girl to Mount Carmel East Hospital in critical condition. Despite receiving medical treatment, Gem later died from her injuries.
