The heartbreaking loss of Gabriel Nacato, just 17 years old, has left his family, friends, and community mourning a promising young life taken far too soon. Gabriel died in a tragic traffic collision on Wednesday morning in Lower Manhattan after the e-bike he was riding was involved in a crash with an SUV near the intersection of Centre Street and Chambers Street. His sudden passing has brought profound sorrow to those who knew and loved him.

According to authorities, Gabriel had just crossed the nearby Brooklyn Bridge and was traveling north on Centre Street when the collision occurred around 9:00 a.m. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV driver remained at the location, and the circumstances surrounding the crash continue to be investigated by police.

For Gabriel’s family, the tragedy is almost impossible to comprehend. His mother, Norma Jami, recalled that only minutes before the crash, Gabriel had dropped her off at work. They embraced, exchanged heartfelt “I love yous,” and she reminded her youngest son to stay safe as he headed to his summer job. Those loving words became their final goodbye.

Gabriel’s sister remembered him as a cheerful, kind-hearted young man who always brought joy to those around him. He was deeply committed to his education and dreamed of building a successful future through hard work and determination.

As loved ones honor Gabriel’s memory, they celebrate a life filled with kindness, ambition, and love. Though his time was brief, the impact he made will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew him. May Gabriel Nacato rest in eternal peace, and may his family find strength and comfort during this time of unimaginable loss.
