The hearts of two families and a community are filled with sorrow as we remember Jose A. Cuevas Sosa, 18, and Jose E. Uribe Duarte, 20, both of Reading, Pennsylvania, who tragically lost their lives in a three-vehicle collision in Robeson Township. Their sudden deaths have brought immense grief to everyone who knew and loved them.
The fatal crash occurred around 6 a.m. Friday on Interstate 76 south. Authorities said a vehicle driven by 44-year-old Paul Villenueva of Coatesville collided with the vehicle occupied by Sosa and Duarte. The impact sent their vehicle airborne before it landed upside-down in a nearby creek.
Sadly, Sosa and Duarte were pronounced dead at the scene. A 21-year-old driver involved in the crash sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Villenueva has since been charged with two counts of homicide by vehicle and three counts of aggravated assault by vehicle, along with other related offenses. He was released on bail and is awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 4.
Although the circumstances of the collision will continue to be addressed through the legal process, nothing can erase the pain of losing two young lives with so much still ahead of them. Jose Sosa and Jose Duarte will be remembered not simply for the tragic circumstances of their passing, but for the memories they created and the people whose lives they touched.
During this difficult time, may their families and friends find comfort in the love and memories they shared with them. Their time on earth was far too short, but their memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who cared for them.
