The Springfield community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Pierre Georges, 36, of Springfield, who tragically lost his life in a devastating two-vehicle crash on State Route 41 in German Township, Clark County, on the night of Tuesday, July 21. His sudden passing has left family members, friends, and loved ones grieving an unimaginable loss while keeping everyone affected by the crash in their thoughts and prayers.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 10:10 p.m. east of Shrine Road. Investigators said a 2014 Kia Soul, driven by Joel Monestime, was traveling westbound when it crossed left of center into the eastbound lanes while traveling parallel to a 2012 Mazda CX-9 driven by Claudy Jean. In an attempt to avoid the Kia, the Mazda left the roadway and struck a guardrail before re-entering the road, where the two vehicles collided.
The violent impact caused both vehicles to leave the roadway and overturn, striking a utility pole, a junction box, a post, and a tree before coming to rest. Emergency responders quickly arrived, but despite their efforts, Pierre Georges was pronounced dead at the scene.
The remaining occupants, including Joel Monestime, Modlyn Auguste, Claudy Jean, Jacques Cherenfant, and Estasilic Paul, were transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center with reported minor injuries.
