The Monroe County community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Lesly Chalchi-Gomez, an 18-year-old from Tompkinsville whose life was tragically cut short in a single-vehicle crash on KY 63 (Old Glasgow Road). Lesly was pronounced deceased at the scene, leaving family, friends, and loved ones devastated by the sudden loss of someone whose future held so much promise. As those closest to Lesly grieve, they also remember a young life filled with hope, kindness, and dreams that will never be forgotten.
According to the Kentucky State Police, the collision occurred shortly before 11:00 p.m. CDT when a 2000 Plymouth Neon traveling north on KY 63 left the roadway, struck an earth embankment, and overturned. The vehicle was driven by 18-year-old Garrett Tingle of Tompkinsville, who survived the crash and was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation by Senior Trooper Brandon Roark.
While investigators continue to determine what caused the crash, the focus for many remains on honoring Lesly’s memory.
