With profound sadness, we remember Tykedius Moore, a 23-year-old resident of Clarksdale whose life was tragically cut short during a shooting in Coahoma County on the night of July 18, 2026. His untimely passing has left his family, friends, and the wider community mourning the loss of a young man whose future was filled with hope and possibility. As loved ones struggle to come to terms with this heartbreaking tragedy, they also remember the moments of joy, kindness, and love that Tykedius shared throughout his life.
According to investigators, deputies with the Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of multiple gunshots in the Land Acres area shortly after 10:00 p.m. At nearly the same time, authorities were notified that a gunshot victim had arrived at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. Tykedius Moore was later identified as the victim and, despite medical efforts, sadly succumbed to his injuries. As detectives continued their investigation, they determined that the fatal shooting occurred during an exchange of gunfire on Perry Drive rather than along U.S. Highway 61, as initially reported.
The tragic incident also endangered innocent residents, as bullets struck a nearby home, entering a child’s bedroom and piercing the roof. Investigators recovered numerous shell casings at the scene and detained several persons of interest as they worked to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Though his life ended far too soon, Tykedius Moore will be remembered for the memories he created and the love he shared with those closest to him. May his family find strength in one another during this incredibly difficult time, and may his memory continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
