Albany Man Dies After Vehicle Crashes Into Transfinder Headquarters in Schenectady

A 59-year-old Albany man has died after the vehicle he was driving crashed into the headquarters of Transfinder in Schenectady during the early hours of Sunday morning. Authorities have identified the driver as Lamont Chambers, and investigators believe a possible medical emergency may have contributed to the fatal incident.

Crash Occurred During Early Morning Patrol

According to the Schenectady Police Department, officers on routine patrol responded to the crash at approximately 12:37 a.m. Sunday after a Suburban Transportation vehicle struck the Transfinder headquarters building located at 440 State Street.

When officers arrived, they found the driver, later identified as Lamont Chambers, seriously injured inside the vehicle. Emergency medical personnel provided treatment at the scene before transporting him to Ellis Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Possible Medical Emergency Under Investigation

Police said that a preliminary investigation suggests Chambers may have suffered a heart attack before the collision, potentially causing him to lose control of the vehicle. Investigators emphasized that this information is preliminary and that the exact cause of the crash has not yet been officially determined.
